The Jersey Benchwarmer's Guide to Sports

Let me start off by saying that North Dakota State moving up to the FBS level is an incredible move. No matter what level the Bison have played at, they have always been winners. From the 2011 season to the 2019 season, the program won eight national championships at the FCS level. Including their two FCS Championships from the 2021 and 2024 seasons, the past 15 years have rivaled programs such as Alabama in terms of dominance. It doesn’t stop there. The Bison are 9-5 against FBS programs since 2004, which have included wins over Kansas State and Iowa. Of course, the program has been responsible for developing NFL caliber players like Carson Wentz, Christian Watson and others alike.  When NDSU officially announced on Monday that they would be joining the Mountain West as an affiliate member for football, I wasn’t surprised. I love to write.  I remember my fourth grade teacher telling me that I was an excellent writer. From then on, I knew I had talent for something.  As middle school came along, my love for sports flourished as I started to watch more and more of them. I read Sports Illustrated, I played every possible sports video game there was at the time, I watched game after game every night.    I knew I wanted to be in sports media by the time eighth grade came around. During the summer of 2016, I read Al Michael’s autobiography in less than two weeks and after I finished it, I knew I had to achieve that dream.  Ten years later, I have announced games from as far as Omaha, to as close by as Whippany. I cover my favorite soccer team in Red Bull New York now as a writer. Heck, I got to take pictures at Madison Square Garden last year. For me, I am living out a dream that many have dreamt of.
